Albin Vega 27 – For Sale
Voila! (formerly Tarka the Otter)
It is with a heavy heart that we offer Voila! For sale but unfortunately we cannot afford the time or money for two boats.
We bought Tarka the Otter in late 2003 in Ivy Lea, Ontario. At the time she was in a broker’s yard but had been in storage for 7 or 8 years. Here was a bluewater boat we could afford. She had even proved herself by circumnavigating with her previous owners. We bought the dream. We discovered that our dream was going to take more than a little money and elbow grease so we built a shelter for her next to our work and spent two years completely rebuilding her. Almost every component was replaced including all of the interior woodwork. We made upgrades, modifications and a few changes as we went. Being in the marine trade it was hard to resist all of the gadgets and toys. She was launched in Aug. 2005 and spent 3 months heading for warmer weather. We made it to the Florida Keys and stored the boat in Florida. The following year we crossed the Gulfstream to the Bahamas for a taste of tropical sailing. She is currently on the hard in Palatka, Florida (while we are in Montreal). She needs a few minor cosmetic touches when we go back in the next few weeks but is essentially ready to head out again.
